Newcastle United: Premier League chief Richard Masters gives takeover update

Newcastle United: Premier League chief Richard Masters gives takeover update - Newcastle United News

Premier League chief Richard Masters has given a fresh update on the proposed takeover of Newcastle United after he was asked about it again, this time by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) select committee (via NUFC 360).

The Premier League CEO claimed that “things get complicated” in response to being asked if he had any sort of update on the prospective £300m deal, adding that he cannot comment on the timing or specifics of the bid itself.

Masters was pushed for more clarity by Julie Elliot MP but he shut her down and explained that the whole process is confidential and that they cannot keep commenting on it.

This is likely to just frustrate the members of the Toon faithful even more, as they would surely want more answers and clarity than what Masters has given them on the whole saga.

The Newcastle supporters have experienced delay after delay with regards to an official announcement from the Premier League, and Masters does not seem to have helped their cause if they want to get the Magpies on their side.

Instead, the fans have had to rely on news about the takeover from various journalists and outlets but have arguably not had enough clarity directly from the horse’s mouth in terms of the takeover’s fate.

Project Restart is fully up and running now and the St. James’ Park faithful will surely be hoping for some more clarity on the deal now so that they know where they stand ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Geordies, does Masters need to give more clarity on the takeover? Comment below with your views!
