George Caulkin has given an update on the proposed takeover of Newcastle United on his official Twitter page, saying that a final decision by the Premier League on whether to approve of the prospective deal or not is “coming very soon”.
Not news really, just waiting for the PL decision. People close to the buyers but also opponents of the deal have had intelligence that it’s coming very soon, but they’ve also been wrong in the past. Just have to wait.

The Athletic journalist was responding to a cry from a fan on whether he had any updates at all on the situation, as Caulkin claimed that there are people close to the buying side as well as opponents of the bid who have suggested that the decision by the Premier League will be made sooner rather than later.
However, the writer did also warn that they have been wrong in the past and urged his following to wait just a little bit longer before there is more clarity on what exactly is going on with the whole saga.
Will the Premier League approve the takeover of Newcastle?
It seems as if several members of the Toon faithful are getting increasingly agitated lately as to when the Premier League will come to their final decision, and perhaps Project Restart has not helped with these proceedings.
Newcastle fans have experienced delay after delay with regards to the entire takeover situation and it seems as if the majority would just like a final decision to be made now regardless of the outcome.
Indeed, the majority of Magpies will likely want the £300m deal between Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley’s Saudi Arabian-led group to go through given that they can experience a brand new start under potentially new ownership, but everything regarding to the bid remains up in the air at the moment.
