Craig Hope has claimed on his official Twitter page that it would 'be good' to see the academy graduates of the Tyneside club to get some time on the pitch over the next couple of weeks as the 2019/20 season in the Premier League draws to a near close.

The Daily Mail journalist named the likes of Tom Allan and Jack Young as two players who could be given a chance under Steve Bruce, which may please several members of the Toon faithful.

Given that the Magpies are now mathematically safe from relegation, and that they may not have enough with just a few games left to climb into the European qualification spots in the top flight table, it may be a good idea to blood the youngsters as Hope suggests with arguably not much left to play for in the North East.

Allan and Young have both impressed so far at youth level, with the former Transfermarkt.

With NUFC being knocked out of the FA Cup to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City at the quarter-final stage too, it could provide them as well as some others an opportunity to show Bruce what they can do at senior level in the last few matches in preparation for the new term, where they may be looking to break into the first-team squad.

Most supporters love to see players come through the academy and break into the first team and Newcastle are a club the often produces top talent - the Longstaff brothers being two recent examples of youngsters who have made the jump.

It seems likely that fans would be happy to see a couple more local lads given a shot in the first team between now and the climax of the 19/20 campaign, especially given that there is little left to play for this term.

Geordies, would you give the youngsters an opportunity in the first-team? Comment below!
