Newcastle United trio Federico Fernandez, DeAndre Yedlin and Isaac Hayden are all set for new contract talks with the Tyneside club, according to the Daily Telegraph.
As per the outlet, all three players have just ten months left remaining on their current deals as Steve Bruce looks to make sure that they cannot leave for free in the next summer transfer window.
Who is most important for Newcastle to sign up?
Indeed, tying all three men down will be key as they have all played a number of games at St. James’ Park over the years.
Fernandez has played in a total of 57 matches in all competitions over the last two seasons, Yedlin has made 115 appearances in all competitions over the last four consecutive campaigns and Hayden 130 across the last four terms. This is a grand total of 302 caps over the last four years, meaning that they have all been loyal servants in the North East in recent times.
The Magpies will want to make sure that their squad is thick enough in preparation for the next couple of seasons and tying this trio down to new deals will help toward that.
Each player still has something to offer and will all provide some healthy competition in their respective positions.
Fernandez has the likes of club-captain Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar to compete with in the central defender role, Yedlin can fight for his place at right-back with the likes of Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth, and Hayden has the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Sean Longstaff to compete with in the middle of the park.
Therefore, it may be a wise idea to tie these three down to a new contract now at the risk of possibly losing them all on a free transfer next summer.
