Keith Downie has dropped a claim on whether a proposed backroom change at Newcastle United will affect Steve Bruce and his job.
As per a tweet from the Sky Sports journalist, he understands that the St. James’ Park faithful are currently in talks to bring in the number two at AFC Bournemouth, Graeme Jones, to assist Bruce and his coaching team.
Should Bruce keep the Newcastle job?
He added that Jones is set to be on the same level as coaches Stephen Clemence and Steve Agnew.
However, Downie also claimed that this prospective change in the backroom ‘definitely won’t‘ have any repercussions on Bruce’s job, as he will be brought in to help with the load and give a new set of eyes.
Bruce under pressure at Newcastle
While this proposed backroom change will not affect his job, Bruce is still under pressure at the Tyneside club.
The Magpies currently sit in 15th spot in the table in the Premier League on 19 points, just seven ahead of the relegation zone having recorded four losses and two draws in their last six games in the top flight (Sky Sports).
If results do not pick up quickly, then the Toon could seriously find themselves under real threat of being relegated – hopefully the expected arrival of Jones will have the desired effect.
