Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing up a shock summer move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Lowdown: Injury problems

Unfortunately for Calvert-Lewin, he has suffered from so many injury problems not just this season, but in previous campaigns as well.

Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor even went as far as to rant that he is ‘made out of straw‘ recently, as he struggles to keep himself consistently fit.

The Latest: Newcastle interest

As per Spanish sources, Newcastle are thinking about a shock move for Calvert-Lewin this summer, considering his injury history and the fact that they would be signing him from a top-flight rival.

They feel that the forward line is an area that needs strengthening, as they have been relatively goal-shy in recent matches.

The Verdict: Avoid

Given his injury record, Calvert-Lewin is a player that the Magpies should be avoiding to sign in the summer transfer window.

When he has been on the pitch, he is not exactly been the most prolific either, with just one goal scored so far this term, leading feeding to the Premier League's all-time top goalscorer and Toon legend Alan Shearer to label his numbers as ‘embarrassing‘.

Nonetheless, the Tynesiders should move on to other targets, and still have Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson at the club in terms of firepower to rely on.
