North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has pushed for transparency with regards to the failed takeover of Newcastle United by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) consortium.
In an email in reply to a fan of the Tyneside club, he said (via The Chronicle) that he ‘will keep pressing’ with regards to trying to get the arbitration hearing between Steve Bruce’s team and the Premier League to be held in public as per the aim of the Newcastle Supporters Consortium Ltd (NCSL).
Are the Premier League to blame for the Newcastle takeover collapse?
Tomlinson also confirmed in his email that he meets and engages with the English top flight on a regular basis and so has already been alerting them of certain issues after an earlier campaign email for when the £300m deal between Mike Ashley and the KSA group was first blocked.
What is the next step in the Newcastle takeover saga?
After the email templates made by the NCSL were sent to various local MP’s from avid fans of the Magpies, including Geordie presenting duo Ant and Dec no less, there is now a wait as to how many of those will reply and thus put added pressure on England’s top flight.
Tomlinson is the first to have shown his support, as more may follow suit over the next few weeks in order to try and seek more transparency in terms of the failure of the Toon takeover.
