Journalist Scott Murray noticed that the referee missed a potential penalty shout for Newcastle United in their clash Carabao Cup clash against Leicester City.

The Lowdown: NUFC denied a penalty

In the 70th minute Joe Willock whipped in a ball from the right-hand side, Callum Wilson leapt up to head the ball but was shoved in the back as he did so.

The Verdict: Newcastle will soon forget the decision

The victory at St James' Park means that the Magpies are through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, the furthest they've got in the competition since 1976.

So with that in mind Newcastle will certainly forget the error made by the official very quickly, as they have a lot more to focus on. Had it changed the outcome of the match, then perhaps the Toon faithful would've been fuming at the decision.

It certainly brings about an interesting talking point when it comes to VAR, should it be implemented in the latter stages of the tournament? If it ends up costing teams matches in the important stages of the competition then we could well see it introduced in the very near future.
