As per the New York Times (NYT) journalist, the trusted adviser to Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan was asked about his role in the prospective deal at St. James’ Park in court and said that he had previously agreed a cooperation agreement to share commission if the Tyneside club source a buyer, but now that Amanda Staveley is a principal, Jassim has nothing to do with it anymore.

He added that he has no more involvement in it now and also no longer holds an interest in the £300 million bid financially.

This comes after it was reported by Panja just a couple of weeks or so ago that Jassim had emerged as a key player in the discussions for the Magpies to sell to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Public Investment Fund (PIF).

The documents which were reviewed by the NYT showed that he had joined forces last year with Staveley to try and shepherd the sale by Mike Ashley to the Saudi Arabian-led group.

However, Jassim has ruled himself out of having any future part in the deal, as the consortium will have to look for another way to try and get their takeover over the line.
