Newcastle United winger Ryan Fraser has reportedly been frozen out of first-team training, and is 'expected' to leave in the summer.

The Lowdown: January interest

Newcastle were reportedly in talks with Championship side Hull City over letting Fraser go on Transfer Deadline Day, but a move never materialised in the end.

He has only played eight times in the Premier League so far this season, starting just three of those games, and his minutes have been limited further by the arrival of Anthony Gordon from Everton in January.

The Latest: Frozen out

Taking to Twitter, North East reporter Craig Hope says that Fraser has been moved to train with the U21s and is 'unlikely' to return to the first-team set-up, with an exit from St. James' Park 'expected' in the summer:

"Ryan Fraser moved to train with NUFC U21s ahead of Wembley final & unlikely to return to 1st team set-up. Club see his future elsewhere & exit expected this summer."

The Verdict: Sell

With so little game time, and now being demoted to the U21s, the Tynesiders should indeed be looking to sell Fraser this summer.

The Scotland international's contract does not run out until 2025, and at 28 years of age, they could demand a decent fee for him.

On £42,000-per-week at the Magpies as well, they would also save a tidy amount on the wage bill, which could then be used to help fund other potential deals.

Nonetheless, Fraser is clearly surplus to requirements, and so it is best for all parties if he leaves this summer.
