Eddie Howe has personally given the green light for Newcastle United to pursue a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk in the January window.

The Lowdown: Burst onto the scene

Mudryk has well and truly burst onto the scene with two goals and two assists in just two games in the UEFA Champions League this season (Transfermarkt).

Hailed as 'absolutely unreal' by football presenter and pundit Jack Collins, the 21-year-old is sure to be a star in the future.

The Latest: January move?

As per Football Insider, Howe has now personally given the green light for the St. James' Park outfit to pursue a deal for Mudryk in January, as he looks to revisit signing another attacker after missing out on some of their top targets in the summer.

Howe is thought to be a 'firm admirer' of the Ukraine international, and he could shoot up to the top of their target list once January comes.

The Verdict: Get it done

Given the way that Mudryk has exploded onto the European stage, he is sure to attract interest from some top clubs in January.

Thus, the Magpies need to make sure that they get their noses in first, as it may be difficult to persuade him to join ahead of other teams who could potentially offer him more European football.

Nonetheless, with four goals and 12 assists in total for Shakhtar over the last two seasons so far (Transfermarkt), Mudryk would offer the Toon another threat in attack.
