Sky Sports pundit Kevin Campbell has now made a claim involving Steve Bruce after a behind-the-scenes Newcastle United revelation.

The Lowdown: Bruce holiday

As per The Athletic, some people within St. James' Park 'weren’t impressed' by Bruce taking part of the international break off to go on holiday.

When asked by The Chronicle about it after their 4-1 loss away to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon, the former Red Devils central defender was left fuming.

The Latest: Campbell on Bruce

Speaking to Football Insider, former Everton and Arsenal striker now pundit Campbell has claimed that Bruce will now be under serious pressure because of his holiday:

“Bruce’s job is definitely under pressure right now.

“The thing is, if Steve Bruce had won a couple of games nothing would have been said.

“But the fact of the matter is Newcastle have been struggling and they want their manager there. The fans want the manager to be in every day rectifying the problems. It is not a good look for some people.

“Listen, I don’t know how long it was planned for but it is the way things go sometimes.

“At the end of the day, you cannot live your life by the press. The press are going to have a go at him. Unfortunately, it is part and parcel of the job.”

The Verdict: Terrible timing

It certainly was not a good idea by Bruce to take a holiday given the situation that the North East club currently find themselves in at the moment.

They sit in 19th spot in the Premier League table with no wins and just one point from their opening four games, with Leeds United at home to come on Friday night (Premier League).

Instead of taking a holiday, he should really have been working with the players not picked for international duty to see how they can get the three points they so desperately need now against Marcelo Bielsa's team.

Nonetheless, Bruce will no doubt be under the spotlight in front of the Toon Army come Friday's match.
