Transfer insider Rudy Galetti has revealed that Newcastle United are now showing 'interest' in signing Armando Broja.

The Lowdown: Striker wanted

With the Magpies having recently been linked with moves for the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Gabriel Barbosa, it is clear that Eddie Howe wants another striker to compete in his squad alongside Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.

There is reported interest from the Championship in Dwight Gayle, who could make way to free up a centre-forward berth at St James' Park ahead of the new season.

The Latest: Broja 'interest'

Taking to Twitter, Galetti has now revealed that Newcastle have shown 'interest' in Broja, although a number of other Premier League clubs are also thought to be fighting for the Albanian's signature.

The reporter tweeted: "#Newcastle have shown interest on Armando #Broja. #NUFC. As reported, there are many clubs on the striker: in #EPL, #WHUFC and #NFFC are following the player too. In #SerieA, #Napoli are very attentive, but - to date - no official bid to #CFC."

The Verdict: Get it done

Given the competition that Newcastle face, and with the new campaign starts in just under four weeks' time, they need to get a deal for Broja over the line as soon as possible.

Dubbed as ‘devastating’ in and around the goal by Albania assistant manager Sergio Porrini, the 20-year-old has four goals in 14 caps for his country, and he also managed nine in all competitions while on loan at Southampton from Chelsea last season (Transfermarkt).

The 6 foot 3 colossus is still only 20 years of age, so he is surely only going to get better as he develops.

Therefore, the Tynesiders could benefit hugely from his services over the next few years if they can lure him to St James' Park.
