# Newcastle United: Odsonne Edouard transfer link revelation has Magpies supporters divided over 25-goal man

**According to a recent piece from the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/james-forrest-responds-odsonne-edouard-21569210), Newcastle United are among fellow Premier League clubs Manchester United and Everton currently in the hunt for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard – with the striker turning heads due to his prolific form north of the border.**

Edouard, who has bagged 25 goals in all competitions this campaign for Scottish Premiership front-runners Celtic ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdaten/spieler/344152)), and with his value currently estimated at [£13.5 million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdaten/spieler/344152), could be seen as a much-needed goalscoring target at a relatively cheap market price.

Newcastle United’s record signing Joelinton has failed to live up to his [£40 million](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49039959) price tag so far at St James’ Park, scoring just [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joelinton/profil/spieler/333241) Premier League goal all season. Meanwhile, Edouard has been on the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of form – firing Celtic 12 points clear of Old Firm rivals Rangers at the top of the league. However, given that his return has come in a somewhat inferior division, many Magpies supporters have since become divided over the transfer link.

> No striker worth his salt would want to sign for us let’s be honest. They barely get a kick

> Well at least he knows were the net is even in a poor league, makes more sense taking a risk on a striker that does score

> £30m on a striker that actually scores goals? That’s a bit cliché.
