# Newcastle United: Solomon Rondon to Man United rumour has Magpies supporters begging for player return

**According to a report[from the Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/manchester-united-target-salomon-rond-n-after-krzysztof-piatek-move-fails-sjd906skm), Manchester United look set to target former Newcastle United striker Solomon Rondon after they missed on previous target Krzysztof Piatek – resulting in a wave of Magpies supporters begging for the former striker to return to St. James’ Park instead.**

Rondon, who scored 12 goals and assisted seven others during his time at Newcastle in all competitions ([Tranfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/salomon-rondon/leistungsdaten/spieler/80197/plus/0?saison=2019)), currently plies his trade with Dalian Yifang in the Chinese Super League under former Magpies boss Rafael Benitez. The Venezuelan, who is potentially seen as a better alternative to record signing Joelinton by [supporters](https://twitter.com/mja1980/status/1222921879473836032?s=21), beats the Brazilian in almost every statistical aspect except aerial duels – with Joelinton garnering a superior [5.4](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/201755/Show/Joelinton) battles won in the air compared to Rondon’s [4.6](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/25964/History/Salom%C3%B3n-Rond%C3%B3n) when he played for the club last season, as per [WhoScored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/25964/History/Salom%C3%B3n-Rond%C3%B3n).

However, Rondon beats the former Hoffenheim striker in shots per game ([2.8](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/25964/History/Salom%C3%B3n-Rond%C3%B3n)) and key passes ([1](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/25964/History/Salom%C3%B3n-Rond%C3%B3n)) while racking up [more](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/25964/History/Salom%C3%B3n-Rond%C3%B3n) goals and assists in the league – potentially highlighting the fact he is indeed a better alternative.

Here’s how Magpies supporters begged to have him back on Twitter.
