Newcastle United are set to rival Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers for Santiago Arias, according to various reports (via Sport Witness).
According to the outlet, the Atletico Madrid ace is expected to move to the Premier League before the summer transfer window shuts, as the Tyneside club are apparently battling with both the Toffees and Wolves to get his signature over the line.
It is claimed that all three clubs from the English top flight would be willing to sit down to talk with the leaders of the La Liga giants. Arias is apparently valued at €16m, which is the equivalent of around £14.6m.
However, it is not yet clear whether any of the Premier League trio are planning to table a proposal to sign the Colombian international.
Indeed, Arias is vastly experienced, playing 53 times at senior international level for his country in addition to racking up 282 games in his club career, as per Transfermarkt.
The 28-year-old has also won numerous trophies in his footballing career so far, including being part of the Atletico Madrid squad that lifted the UEFA Super Cup in 2018/19 (per Transfermarkt).
Both his experience and winning mentality could be vital for Steve Bruce as the 59-year-old potentially looks for a player to cement himself in the right-back role in his starting XI, with the likes of Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth currently vying with one another for that position.
Does Arias start for Newcastle?
Indeed, Arias may well be that man, but the Magpies may have to fight off stiff competition from Everton and Wolves if they are to bring him to Tyneside.
