Newcastle United have emerged as one of the favourites to sign Gremio winger Everton Soares as Area Napoli reported that he seems to heading to the Premier League.
As per the outlet, the Tyneside club ‘would be a more welcome destination’ than the likes of Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen and West Bromwich Albion, as the 24-year old would reportedly prefer a move to the English top flight.
However, Leicester City and West Ham United have previously shown an interest in signing Everton in the upcoming summer transfer window and are among the favourites along with the St. James’ Park outfit to secure his signature given that he would like to play in England’s highest division.
The £25.2 million-valued ace enjoyed a fine season in the Brazilian Serie A last year, scoring a relatively impressive 11 goals and providing five assists from the wing in 30 games in the league for Gremio, according to Sofascore.
Comparing the stats of Everton to the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin, Matt Ritchie and Miguel Almiron in their respective Premier League campaigns so far, the Brazilian international averaged more shots and had a higher pass success rate per game in his own domestic league, as well as netting more regularly and providing more assists (via Whoscored).
Everton may also be interested in the prospect of a proposed takeover in the northeast from Amanda Staveley’s Saudi Arabian-led group, as the Magpies could become a very rich club with money to splash in the summer, providing that the £300m deal is approved by the Premier League, of course.
Would Everton slot into the Newcastle side after the takeover?
Whether or not he chooses the Toon Army is another question, but Newcastle could be an attractive proposition for him.
