Newcastle United have been urged to sign two or three players in the January transfer window by Alan Shearer.
Speaking as a pundit during Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of the 0-0 home draw at St. James’ Park to Liverpool in the Premier League, the Tyneside club legend said:
“I’d like two or three players, not just one in there! But, if you’re only allowing one – then I’d like someone with a bit of legs in the midfield to get up and get near to Callum Wilson and then have that bit of creativity in the final third.”
Newcastle may be busy in January
Steve Bruce’s team may well be a busy club in the January transfer window, both in terms of incomings and outgoings in the North East.
Where will Newcastle finish in the Premier League?

The former Sunderland and Aston Villa manager may feel as if he would like to bring in some cover for Allan Saint-Maximin, who will reportedly be out for most of the month as he continues to battle his illness caused by the global pandemic.
The Magpies also reportedly have no money to spend in the January transfer market, which means that they may have to raise funds either by selling players first or letting them leave on a loan deal for the rest of the 2020/21 term.
Even then, they may not have enough cash to spend to go out and buy two or three players as Shearer would like, so the Toon may be looking more at loan deals or free agents in order to strengthen their squad for the rest of the season.
