Newcastle United are reportedly open to selling Fabian Schar, Florian Lejeune, Henri Saivet, Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar to raise funds to buy a new central defender and striker, according to The Chronicle.
As per the outlet, the Tyneside club are not finished yet with their recruitment despite securing the signings of Jeff Hendrick, Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis.
Steve Bruce is apparently keen to get a centre-back in before the summer transfer window shuts and would be willing to listen to offers for both Schar and Lejeune, as the former’s contract runs out at the end of the 2020/21 term, with his market value currently standing at £11.7 million according to Transfermarkt.
Do Newcastle need another centre-half?
The other four players have all been told that they can leave as they have all not had much game time at St. James’ Park.
Lejeune has only managed to play in 46 matches in all competitions over the last three seasons, Saivet has only made eight appearances in total in the famous black-and-white stripes, Aarons only 27 over the course of the last four campaigns and Lazaar a mere 10 in the North East so far.
Indeed, Bruce needs to also trim his squad for the next term and getting rid of these players would help him do that and balance the books.
The amount of money that could also be potentially generated for these players could also go toward funding other deals, and so the Magpies should be looking to offload them as soon as possible for these to happen.
Geordies, would you keep any of these players? Comment below!
