# Newcastle United: Magpies may include Matt Ritchie in swap deal for Tottenham Hotspur target Callum Wilson

**Newcastle United may include Matt Ritchie in a possible swap deal for Callum Wilson, according to [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/752872/tottenham-talks-sign-josh-king-callum-wilson-bournemouth/).**

However, as per the outlet, the Tyneside club may face competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur to get his signature over the line.

Wilson is [expected to leave Bournemouth](https://talksport.com/football/752872/tottenham-talks-sign-josh-king-callum-wilson-bournemouth/) in the summer transfer window following the Cherries’  relegation of the from the top flight into the Championship five weeks ago.

Consequently, the England international may well be available for a cut-price fee, and former Bournemouth player Ritchie could also be added as a makeweight in order to bring down the potential transfer sum.

Indeed, the [£8.55m-valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matt-ritchie/profil/spieler/92469) Scottish international has been a loyal servant at St James’ Park over the last four years, playing in 148 matches in all competitions, including 23 in the 2019/20 season (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matt-ritchie/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/92469/plus/0?saison=&verein=762&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

However, if it means that the Magpies can sign a proper goalscorer in Wilson, then Ritchie may well have to be sacrificed.

Indeed, the Bourbemouth striker has scored a relatively impressive 91 goals in his club career over 245 games for the likes of Tamworth, Coventry City and the Cherries, with double-figure hauls in three separate seasons (per [Transfermarkt).](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/callum-wilson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/123682/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)

Also, Wilson is perhaps in his prime years at 28, and so the Toon should really consider doing this swap deal if it means that they can get the centre-forward on their books in time for the 2020/21 season.
