Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be growing frustrated with the way things are going at the club this summer and will be looking for things to change rather quickly.

Rafa Benitez is keen on making new additions to his side, as well as trying to keep his best players who have been attracting interest from Premier League sides, however, he will know he will need to raise funds for those new arrivals.

According to a report in the Newcastle Chronicle, the Spaniard knows that Mike Ashley has been reluctant to spend big since his arrival at the Magpies and Benitez will realise he will need to make a huge offer to bring some of his transfer targets this summer, due to the current financial market.

It is expected that the former Liverpool boss will need to offload a number of his fringe players, which he does plan to do, as well as have to wait for the first injection of TV revenue the club receives before he can make any huge transfer signings.

Landlord’s Verdict

The resident Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be growing frustrated that the club can not push on with their recruitment drive this summer yet and will fear that they cannot bring anyone in before the window shuts.

The locals want the manager to be able to have the flexibility to spend, however, it looks as though it could be a difficult summer once again for the Magpies.
