Surprising transfer news is emerging from the Toon Army. Those propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing
According to Get West London, Dwight Gayle is odds-on to sign for Fulham in the January transfer window. The West London team tried to sign the Newcastle striker in the summer transfer window. However, a move failed to materialise for a man who fired the Magpies back to the Premier League last term.
Nonetheless, the former Palace striker has found himself isolated at Newcastle, and he’s slipped down the pecking order with manager Rafa Benitez, with summer signing Joselu largely taking his place since his arrival from Stoke City.
The 27-year-old was of undeniable significance to the Magpies last season as he scored 23 goals as Benitez’s side won the Championship.
Still, now, the striker looks poised to join Slavisa Jokanovic’s team in the January window. While he’s a popular figure amongst the punters clad in black and white here, not all too many of our Geordie contingent would be too fussed if he left.
Dwight Gayle’s goal-scoring record is truly astonishing, 110 goals in 214 games – an average of more than a goal per two games – is demonstrative of the qualities that the Englishman possesses. He has proven his capacity to score regularly in the Championship. He would be a terrific signing for Fulham.
