# Chelsea: Sale of N’Golo Kante could provide crucial funds towards Lampard’s goalkeeper hunt

**The final curtain looks to have drawn on N’Golo Kante’s time with Chelsea as it becomes apparent he is no longer part of Frank Lampard’s plans.**

Former Blues boss Antonio Conte has made his interest in the Frenchman known, but he won’t be a cheap asset to acquire. According to Corriere dello Sport (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/frank-lampard-sees-chelsea-star-outgoing-want-e60m-cash-manager-sees-dream/)), Kante will still command a fee of about €60million (£53.2m), despite no longer having a spot in the Chelsea team.

Inter Milan are eager to bring Kante to Italy following his success with both Leicester and Chelsea. Impressively, the midfielder has helped guide both teams to a Premier League title, something which is very hard to ignore.

Indeed, Conte is looking to make a move happen, but this has only been viewed as possible if the Italians can land a large outgoing sale.

Lampard is making good use of the current transfer window, with his latest senior signing coming in the form of [£50m Ben Chilwell.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53913585) However, the left-back is just the start of more defensive recruits to arrive.

After already strengthening his attack, the Stamford Bridge icon has outlined the importance of ensuring the defence is on the same level. Thiago Silva is also [due to join the West Londoners](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours/potential-new-captain-thiago-silva-could-become-a-chelsea-player-this-week-following-medical/) on a free contract.

One of Lampard’s major worries is his options between the sticks, having all but [washed his hands of Kepa Arrizabalaga](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours/chelsea-frank-lampard-offload-kepa-transfer-rumours-doubts/) after his performances last season. The club conceded the most amount of goals out of the Premier League top ten with a worrying 54.

Chelsea have eyed up the likes of Jan Oblak to replace Kepa, but Atletico Madrid have stood firm on the [£110m release clause](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours/chelsea-atletico-madrid-will-refuse-any-deal-for-jan-oblak-involving-a-swap-for-kepa/) for the Slovenian. However, if they can offload Kante and pocket a healthy £53.2m, it will be a huge boost in their hunt for a proven, high-calibre shot-stopper.
