Bayern Munich are interested in Arsenal youngster Joe Willock, according to Sky Sports.
Bayern Munich are targeting young English talent in the transfer market and had several bids rejected for Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi before the youngster signed a new contract.
Manager Unai Emery is said to have high hopes for Willock and challenged the youngster to become a key man for Arsenal this season.
Joe Willock has enjoyed a decent pre-season campaign, featuring in all of the club’s fixtures this summer. The 19-year-old has gone from strength to strength, and with an injury to Dani Ceballos and the late return to pre-season from Lucas Torreira, Willock could find himself in the starting line up against Newcastle United on Sunday.
The England youth international featured for the senior team and the under-23s last season, making 20 appearances and scoring 12 goals in all competitions. His first-team appearances saw him score three goals in four appearances for the club in the FA Cup and the Europa League.
Losing the midfield prodigy would be bad for Arsenal. The youngster has shown he has an abundance of ability, and that he could be ready to feature for the first team this season.
An impressive part of Willock’s play is his attacking intent, which has seen him draw a likeness to the former Arsenal player Aaron Ramsey. In the Europa League last season, Willock averaged 2.3 shots per game and 2 dribbles per game, showing a willingness to get forward and get involved in the attacking play.
Moving on such a talented youngster is something Arsenal have been guilty of in the past, with Serge Gnabry an example. The club cannot afford to lose Willock who has shown promise and potential to become a great player.
