Aston Villa are still yet to come to an agreement with Club Brugge over the signing of Marvelous Nakamba, according to The Daily Star.
Club Brugge are said to want £12 million, but Villa have only offered £11 million and want the Belgian outfit to take a player on loan, paying ‘a few million’ to do so.
Nakamba has refused to train with Brugge despite being due back on July 15th after returning from the African Cup of Nations.
Considering his antics, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Zimbabwe international if the two clubs are unable to strike up a deal.
Nakamba and his Club Brugge teammates will have caught the eye of onlookers most in the Champions League last season.
The Zimbabwean played every minute in all four of their games in which they got a result – including a 4-0 victory over AS Monaco.
The 25-year-old holding midfielder’s main strength is his tackling, though his passing, concentration and ball interception are also strong points – these will be useful for Villa, as they will likely have a new-look backline after the signings they have made, so having someone like this to protect them could allow the new boys to settle.
However, there could be questions around his attitude after his decision to go AWOL rather than turn up to training.
Nakamba will be hoping his move to Villa will materialise more than ever, as if it doesn’t he could be put in a tricky situation.
It will definitely be a bigger loss to the player than it would be for the Villans if it wasn’t to be, as there will be more defensive midfield targets that can be pursued.
