Brighton and Hove Albion are looking to sign PSG defender Romaric Yapi, with RMC via Sky Sports’ transfer blog (12.40pm) suggesting talks are underway.
The Seagulls are once again working in the transfer market to strengthen the ranks and have had a busy summer already, splashing the cash on Bristol City defender Adam Webster only a few days ago.
However, it would appear they are not done with their summer spending spree, and have now targeted youngster Yapi, with Sky Sports taking comments from French news outlet RMC to reveal Brighton’s interest in the teenager.
Brighton must have seen something they like in the talented youngster, and will be keen to snap him up and harness the talents of a player who must have something about him to be sitting as part of big-spending PSG’s system.
Predominantly a right-back, Brighton are looking for a long-term successor to the recently retired Bruno and could well see Yapi as the ideal man heading into the future.
It’s hard to say if this would be a good signing or not, but as a risk of sorts to replace Bruno in the long-term, it makes sense.
PSG are obviously a club at the moment who have a massive depth of talent in the ranks, and it is probably no fault of Yapi’s that he hasn’t made it into the first-team picture as yet.
If Brighton can snap him up and develop him further, then they might well just be pulling off a shrewd move.
