Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is expecting 35-year-old goalkeeper Andy Lonergan to sign for the club on a short-term deal following the injury to Alisson in the Reds’ win over Norwich last Friday, as stated by the club’s official Twitter channel.

Adrian, who replaced Alisson to make his club debut last Friday, is likely to be Liverpool’s first choice goalkeeper in the Brazil international’s absence and, with Caoimhin Kelleher and Vitezslav Jaros also nursing injuries, Liverpool have been left short on goalkeeping cover.
Lonergan, a free agent after being released by Middlesbrough at the end of last season, has been training with the Reds in recent weeks and was part of the squad for their pre-season tour of USA, as reported by LiverpoolFC.com.
According to LiverpoolFC.com, Klopp is hoping to be able to name the veteran goalkeeper among the substitutes for the Champions League holders’ UEFA Super Cup meeting with Chelsea tomorrow night.
After a summer in which Liverpool spent just £1.7m in the transfer window, according to Transfermarkt.com, these Reds fans exercised some gallows humour in reacting to the news of Lonergan’s imminent signing:

This is like living from check to check. From not signing anyone of note to adding the cheapest solutions to our goalkeeping ranks
If anything this season will be an exercise in operating on a tight budget
