Manchester United have been contacting the entourage of Sevilla star Wissam Ben Yedder, according to Marca (via Sport Witness).
Ben Yedder is reported to have turned down a move to China recently as he hopes to be selected for Didier Deschamp’s Euro 2020 squad.
It is being reported that Sevilla aren’t against the idea of selling the France international this summer, however, would demand his release clause be met. French champions Paris Saint Germain are also said to be interested in signing the 28-year-old.
Links with Ben Yedder make sense with reports surrounding Lukaku’s Old Trafford future rife. It is being said that a swap deal with Juventus between the Belgian and Paulo Dybala is a possibility, with Manchester United actively pressing for it.
However, the Sevilla frontman isn’t Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s only striking target if Lukaku leaves the club, with the club said to be preparing to move for Olympique Lyonnais centre-forward Moussa Dembele. The good news for Manchester United remains that both players are reportedly fetching a reasonable fee according to the reports by L’Equipe (via Manchester Evening News) and Marca (via Sport Witness).
Would a move for Wissam Ben Yedder be a good thing? Absolutely, he would be the perfect player for Solskjaer and his fast-paced style of football. The Old Trafford giants victory against Tottenham Hotspur could be labelled as the Norwegian’s best game in charge of the club. It was the pace of the attacking trio Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard that wreaked havoc on Tottenham’s back-line in an impressive first-half.
Ben Yedder has an abundance of pace and would fit like a glove in the Solskjaer’s style of play. And at a reported £36m he would be a cheap option for the club.
Ben Yedder represents value and a good option for the north-west club. Signing him makes sense and would only strengthen Manchester United for next season.
