Manchester United: Fans reckon Van Persie could still do a job up-front

Manchester United’s start to the season has been disappointing to say the least.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are currently 12th in the Premier League having won just two of their opening eight games and face league leaders Liverpool – currently unbeaten in 17 matches – this Sunday in a huge game at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils lack of creativity in the final third has been at the centre of their struggles so far this term, with their current top scorers – Marcus Rashford and Daniel James – only notching three goals each at this stage of proceedings (via Transfermarkt). That is simply not good enough for a team gunning for Champions League football next season.

United need a natural goalscorer to rely on up top, somebody like former striker Robin van Persie. The Dutch frontman scored 58 goals in 105 appearances for the 20-time English champions during his tenure at the north-west club, and proved he’s still very much got it in a recent charity match, by scoring this delightful strike which was caught on camera and uploaded to Twitter last night.

Here’s how United fans reacted to the stunning goal:

United fans, just how much could you do with this man right now? Let us know below…
