Despite only taking over the reins at Nottingham Forest last month, Sabri Lamouchi has already put his own stamp on his new side by signing five new players with one of the newest arrivals being Arijanet Muric.
Brought in on a season-long loan from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City (via the Nottingham Post), the goalkeeper will now join up with the rest of the squad for the Reds’ pre-season trip to Greece where he may make his debut for the club against Atromitos on Saturday.
Speaking to the club’s official website about his move to the City Ground, the 20-year-old said: “I’m very happy to be here and to spend some time with my new teammates and I hope we can achieve a lot this season.
Although he was back-up to Ederson during the previous campaign, Muric did make five appearances in the League Cup for the Citizens (via Transfermarkt), helping them reach the final of the competition in January.
When you consider that Forest now have four ‘keepers at their disposal for the upcoming campaign (via Transfermarkt) following the signing of Muric, there is no guarantee that he will be a regular starter in the Championship.
Therefore, in order to overtake the likes of Costel Pantilimon and Luke Steele in the pecking order, the Kosovan international will need to illustrate his skills in pre-season to convince Lamouchi to start him in the club’s opening day fixture against West Bromwich Albion on August 3rd.
Unquestionably gifted, Muric was named alongside Dele Alli and Leroy Sane in the Guardian’s best under-23 Premier League XI mid-way through the previous campaign and produced an inspired performance in between the sticks against Leicester City in December, earning a WhoScored rating of 7.1.
If he can replicate this kind of form over the course of 46 games for Forest next season, Lamouchi’s side could be in for a treat.
