It was a transfer rumour that surprised the footballing world. Indeed, Diego Costa to Wolves was something that took supporters back a bit.
The Mirror reported that the Europa League side are one of a handful of Premier League teams interested in the Atletico Madrid striker, and given the fact Costa’s agent is Jorge Mendes, who represents a number of players at Wolves, it has put plenty of supporters of the Molineux club on high alert of a potential star signing.
Indeed, fan channel The Wolf Pack from Two-Footed Talk has chimed in with his thoughts on the rumours in the video below, asking the all-important question of would Costa be an improvement over the current number 9 Raul Jimenez.
The Mexican international impressed in his first season in the Premier League, scoring 13 goals and assisting eight in the league (per Transfermarkt) as Wolves finished in a European spot in their comeback year in the English top-flight, and after such an impressive campaign it is understandable as to why some fans would be reluctant to replace Jimenez with a high reputation player.
Jimenez asserted himself as a fan favourite at Wolves last season, and although the prospect of signing Costa sounds enticing for a club aiming high, supporters appear to be eager to see the former Benfica striker progress as the team’s main target man upfront.
