Tottenham fans have fumed over the prospect of Fulham manager Marco Silva replacing Antonio Conte after an update.

The Lowdown: Spurs target Silva...

The 45-year-old has been linked with the Spurs managerial post if Conte does leave at the end of this Premier League season.

Tottenham are believed to have drawn up a shortlist of candidates to replace the Italian with Mauricio Pochettino, a real fan favourite, Roberto De Zerbi, Luis Enrique, Thomas Tuchel, Silva and Thomas Frank.

Conte's current Spurs deal is set to expire this season, and while the Lilywhites have an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months, there is currently little appetite to do so.

As such, Tottenham could be exploring their options, with a report by 90min (via The Spurs Web) now claiming Silva's new deal talks with Fulham have stalled due to Spurs' interest.

The Latest: Spurs fans fume over Silva update...

Flocking to social media, Spurs supporters have fumed over the aforementioned news, claiming their club shouldn't go for the Whites boss despite his brilliant job at Craven Cottage this season.

Here's what they had to say after the report:

"Wow." - @rs3_1988

"New Nuno" - @HihiHah13669783

"Rubbish why would we want him" - @marcb3381

"Mid level manager. Right up levy’s way of thinking." - @JP1976THFC

"Please be a joke" - @robiekings

"Marco silva isn't good enough , failed at everton and couldn't save hull from relegation , i'd take gallardo or ruben amorim , i like de zerbi too but not sure he'd leave brighton 8 months into the job" - @spursline

The Verdict: Don't discount...

The Spaniard has guided Fulham from the Championship to contending for a European qualifying spot in the space of 12 months.

Indeed, the west Londoners also also spent just £62 million in the summer, far fewer than most top flight sides who were handed sufficient backing.

Called ‘magic‘ by members of the media for his work at Craven Cottage, it’s quite safe to suggest that Silva could even be a silent contender for manager of the year.

Silva also has title-winning experience abroad, having clinched a Greek Super League winner's medal with Olympiacos in 2016.

Despite not coming as a prestigious name, like say with Tuchel, Pochettino or Enrique, the former Hull City boss could still be a real dark horse in the race to succeed Conte.
