The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are outraged over the latest player that their club have been linked with.
Chelsea have recently sold Nemanja Matic to Manchester United for a fee in the region of £40 million.
This had many Chelsea fans excited about the prospect of who the club might bring in to replace him, granted they wouldn’t spend all of the money with Bakayoko ready and waiting but the Blues fans didn’t expect this.
Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater has been linked with a move to the current Premier League champions and the fans aren’t happy.
Their frustration is understandable and our landlord agrees with them.
Why would Chelsea, a club who could pretty much afford to buy anyone they wanted to with Abramovich’s money, go after Danny Drinkwater?
Yes, he was a key part of their Premier League winning side in the 2015/16 season but since then, he has been painfully average.
Although he would certainly be used as a back-up to the first team, Conte could surely find a better player to take his place.
The Manchester United fans will be the ones getting the last laugh out of this deal.
After all the Chelsea fans laughing at United signing their reject Matic, Chelsea could be about to sign a failed United academy player.
Cue up the Twitter wars.
Even though Chelsea took the title last year, City enters this season as a slight favourite (7/3 versus 4/1 for both Chelsea and United) – according to Sports Betting Dime.
City brought in some nice additions – like Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, and Benjamin Mendy – without losing much.
Chelsea’s addition of Alvaro Morata is significant, but the impending loss of leading-scorer Diego Costa moves the needle further in the other direction.
