Norwich City are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour on loan next season, in what could be an exciting move.

The Lowdown: Gilmour set for temporary Chelsea exit

The 20-year-old is arguably one of Britain's most exciting young players at the moment, having caught the eye for both Chelsea and Scotland in the last 12 months.

Gilmour managed five Premier League appearances for the newly-crowned champions of Europe last season, showcasing his quality in the middle of the park. He was also Man of the Match in Scotland's 0-0 draw against England at Euro 2020, producing a superb performance at Wembley.

Gilmour is reportedly happy to be loaned out next season, though, in order for him to enjoy regular first team football.

The Latest: Norwich keen on loan move

According to The Eastern Daily Press, Norwich are willing to battle Rangers for the signing of the midfielder, saying they 'lead the pack' with regards to Premier League interest.

Gilmour is thought to be open to returning to the Scottish champions on a temporary basis, however, having spent part of his youth career at Ibrox.

The Verdict: Gilmour would be a great addition

The Scot could be an exciting signing for Norwich - he has been lauded as an 'exceptional talent' by Steven Naismith - as they prepare for a return to the top flight in August.

Despite his tender years, Gilmour already possesses experience at the top level, enjoying an 89.8% passing completion rate in the Champions League last season.

His ability to retain possession and dictate play in midfield could fit perfectly into Farke's ball-playing style, and earning regular starts could benefit all parties involved.
