# Norwich City: Predicted XI v Watford

**Norwich’s relegation could be [mathematically confirmed by Saturday afternoon](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) depending on results between now and then, with this evening’s clash at Watford offering them their latest chance at trying to salvage their Premier League status.**

[Four consecutive league defeats](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/norwich-city/spielplan/verein/1123/saison_id/2019) since the resumption of the league have left the Canaries [seven points adrift of safety](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) with only 15 to play for and, with the [Hornets occupying 17th](https://www.premierleague.com/tables), defeat for Daniel Farke’s men at Vicarage Road would leave them 10 points off safety and surely deprive them of even a faint chance of getting out of the bottom three.

A shocking run of [one goal from their last eight league games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/norwich-city/spielplan/verein/1123/saison_id/2019) is a major factor in their current predicament and Norwich’s cause is not helped by the [injury-enforced absence](https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/watford-v-norwich-farke-team-news-1-6732191) of [Todd Cantwell](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/norwich-city-transfer-rumours/todd-cantwell-profile/) this evening. Farke is confident, though, that the midfield duo of Kenny McLean and Alexander Tettey will [shake off knocks in time for the Vicarage Road encounter](https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/watford-v-norwich-farke-team-news-1-6732191).

Our predicted XI for the Canaries shows two changes from the team that [started Saturday’s defeat at home to Brighton](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/norwich-city_brighton-amp-hove-albion/index/spielbericht/3219207):

As ever, **Tim Krul** is between the sticks, while a spate of long-term defensive injuries will almost certainly mean the retention of the back four of[**Jamal Lewis**](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/norwich-city-transfer-rumours/jamal-lewis-profile/), **Timm Klose**, **Ben Godfrey** and [**Max Aarons**](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/norwich-city-transfer-rumours/max-aarons-profile/).

Farke will be keeping a close watch on the fitness of **Tettey** and **McLean** to see if they recover in time to start this evening. He is optimistic that they will but, if either or both are ruled out, Tom Trybull would be set to come into the team, while Mario Vrancic or Lukas Rupp could also start in a slightly more withdrawn role.

Cantwell’s absence will likely see **Onel Hernandez** keep his place on the left wing, while [**Emiliano Buendia**](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/norwich-city-transfer-rumours/emiliano-buendia-profile/) should again start on the right. Farke could make a change in the number 10 role, where Ondrej Duda [didn’t have much of an effect](https://www.sofascore.com/brighton-and-hove-albion-norwich-city/Fnf) on Saturday. **Marco Stiepermann** could be brought in for his [first Premier League start of 2020](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/82699/MatchStatistics/Marco-Stiepermann).

There could also be a change in the lone striker role. **Teemu Pukki**‘s goals have [dried up](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/teemu-pukki/leistungsdaten/spieler/46972) and he was [dropped for the Brighton game](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/teemu-pukki/leistungsdaten/spieler/46972) but, with his replacement Josip Drmic [unable to make the most of his chance](https://www.sofascore.com/brighton-and-hove-albion-norwich-city/Fnf), Farke could restore the Finland international in the hope that he can remedy the Canaries’ glaring problems in front of goal.

Games are running out quickly for Norwich if they want to stay in the Premier League. Even a goal at Watford this evening would be a start.
