# Nottingham Forest submit bid for “fantastic” 20-year-old defender

[Nottingham Forest](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/nottingham-forest-transfer-rumours/) endured a hugely difficult campaign last season, narrowly avoiding relegation after a turbulent year that saw four different managers take charge.

However, the arrival of Oliver Glasner offers the club a chance for a fresh start. The former Crystal Palace boss enjoyed huge success at Selhurst Park and Forest will be hoping he can bring stability and a clear identity to the City Ground.

Now, Glasner could be ready to make his first addition as Forest manager.

## **Forest Make Contact for Read**

According to reports, Nottingham Forest have submitted an opening bid worth **€17.5 million (£14.9m)** for Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read.

[Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/2075157816709431454?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2075157816709431454%7Ctwgr%5E69856bb6873dffae0996a33e7b2a75a1cdc3f753%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.empireofthekop.com%2F2026%2F07%2F10%2Ffabrizio-romano-confirms-14-9m-bid-for-liverpool-target-who-instantly-fixes-rb-woes%2F) the offer was rejected by the Eredivisie side, but Forest are expected to return with an improved proposal in the near future.

The 20-year-old has emerged as one of Feyenoord’s most highly rated young players and has also attracted admiration from Liverpool, who are assessing options at right-back.

Read, who has been [described as “fantastic” by Feyenoord legend Robin van Persie](https://www.footballinsider247.com/nottingham-forest/transfers/nottingham-forest-fans-will-love-what-robin-van-persie-has-said-about-givairo-read-as-bid-is-submitted), is viewed as a player with significant potential thanks to his athleticism, defensive ability and attacking output.

[According to Voetbal International journalist Martijn Krabbendam](https://sportwitness.co.uk/nottingham-forest-to-overcome-new-transfer-policy-hindrance-for-signing-new-offer-soon/), Feyenoord could be willing to negotiate if an offer reaches around €25m (£21.3m).

Forest’s first approach may have been rejected, but the Premier League club appears determined to get a deal done as Glasner begins reshaping his squad.
