# Nottingham Forest: Dean Henderson closing in on Reds switch

**According to [reliable journalist](https://twitter.com/JonathanShrager) Jonathan Shrager, [Nottingham Forest](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/nottingham-forest-news/) could complete the signing of Dean Henderson as early as this week.**

### The Lowdown: Henderson agrees Forest deal

The 25-year-old experienced a significant lack of game time at Manchester United last season, making [zero](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dean-henderson/leistungsdaten/spieler/258919) appearances in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/), something which has seen him be linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent weeks, with serious interest coming from the City Ground.

It was reported by [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/news/dean-henderson-nottingham-forest-man-utd-transfer-news/bO5BqrS37mbf/) on Thursday afternoon that the goalkeeper has agreed a deal to join the Reds on a season-long loan, subject to a medical, and if all goes well, the switch could be imminent.

### The Latest: Next 48 hours crucial?

Taking to Twitter, Shrager [confirmed](https://twitter.com/jonathanshrager/status/1539645740712366081?s=21&t=S1dXwYzS8-Mn2wWZ79MpgQ) that there is a strong belief that Henderson’s move to Forest could be sealed in the next couple of days.

“There is a confidence that Dean Henderson’s loan move from Manchester United to Nottingham Forest will be completed this week. No option to buy included.”

### The Verdict: Samba replacement

With the chances of Brice Samba staying at Forest getting slimmer by the day, Steve Cooper will be desperate to bolster his ranks with a new addition between the sticks, and Henderson has all the attributes to be the man to take the number one jersey, even if it is only on a temporary basis.

The shot-stopper has plenty of experience at a high level under his belt, having kept a total of [48](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dean-henderson/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/258919) clean sheets across all competitions during his spells with Sheffield United and Manchester United – his teammates at Bramall Lane even called him ‘[insane](https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/sander-berge-dean-henderson-praise-17877641)‘.

The former Blades man will be keen to move to a club where he knows he is likely to get regular minutes, and he is pretty much guaranteed exactly that in the Midlands if Samba starts.

This feels like a win-win for all parties involved.
