Nottingham Forest are among the main contenders to sign Barcelona winger Abde Ezzalzouli this summer, according to reports from Spain.

The Lowdown: Cooper planning rebuild?

Forest are still well on course to remain in the Premier League this season, currently sitting four points clear of the relegation zone, however the 4-0 defeat at West Ham United last weekend may have flagged up some concerns for manager Steve Cooper.

The Tricky Trees are known to be interested in a new defender, being linked to Odilon Kossounou and Cesar Montes in recent days, and they are now said to be considering new attacking options as well.

The Latest: Ezzalzouli eyed

According to a report from Sport, Forest are one of the clubs most interested in signing Ezzalzouli this summer, with the player's future being considered by Barcelona.

The winger is currently on loan at La Liga club Osasuna, however they do not have a purchase option included in the deal, potentially opening the door for a move to the Premier League.

The Verdict: Get it done?

Hailed as 'extraordinary' by Barcelona manager Xavi, the 21-year-old has weighed in with two goals and two assists in 19 appearances for Osasuna in all competitions this season.

While that may not seem like the best return from the Moroccan, it must be noted that it is his first real season playing consistent first-team football in La Liga, having made sporadic appearances for Barcelona in the 2021-22 campaign.

The starlet's main strength is undoubtedly his dribbling ability, ranking in the 95th percentile for progressive carries per 90 compared to other wingers in the past year.

Given that he is yet to prove himself over the course of a full season, it is very tricky to predict whether Ezzalzouli would be a successful signing for Nottingham Forest, but it could be a risk worth taking this summer.
