Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is considering sacking several members of his recruitment team after a poor start to the season, according to journalist John Percy.

The Lowdown: Cooper under threat

Manager Steve Cooper is currently under increased pressure as a result of his side sitting rock bottom of the Premier League, but he isn’t the only figure being closely monitored by the Greek.

The Reds spent just short of £150m over the summer, bringing in 23 new signings, but having failed to yet make an impact on the pitch, some associates behind-the-scenes are now also under scrutiny.

The Latest: Marinakis considering recruitment reshuffle

Taking to Twitter, Percy revealed that Marinakis is thinking about a backroom reshuffle in a bid to change the club’s fortunes on the pitch, with Cooper’s fate still hanging in the balance.

“Nottingham Forest's recruitment team in the firing line as owner Evangelos Marinakis takes action after the club's poor start to the season. Steve Cooper's future also remains in doubt.”

Expanding further in his column for The Telegraph, it’s CEO Dane Murphy and recruitment chiefs George Syrianos and Andy Scott who are the ones facing uncertain futures.

The Verdict: Too many signings made

After achieving promotion, it was vital for Forest to spend to give themselves the best chance of maintaining their top-flight status, but making so many new signings has majorly over complicated things.

Last season, the Tricky Trees were an outstanding unit greater than the sum of their parts, which is what secured them a place in the playoffs, but the fresh faces are failing to gel and seem to have disrupted the original squad.

The competition is of a much higher standard now than in the second tier, but results are what keep you in the division so it’s understandable that changes will have to be made sooner rather than later, with January perhaps the final chance to save the season if results don't improve before then.
