Many Nottingham Forest are fuming with Tobias Figueiredo after his role in Swansea City’s early goal in their FA Cup Fourth Round tie.
Manager Chris Hughton made ten changes from their last Championship match, and while it is certainly a good sign that he trusts his squad, maybe that trust was misplaced.
For the players brought in, this type of game is a chance for them to prove themselves. However, it seems like defender Figueiredo has done the opposite in the first 45 minutes, with one fan calling him ‘atrocious’ during the first half.
The criticism is somewhat fair, as Figueiredo failed to deal with a cross, leaving Liam Cullen with an easy opportunity to open the scoring for the Swans.
The centre-back has played 19 games in the division this season (Transfermarkt), but was dropped for the last two games with Hughton favouring other options. The 26 year-old has played 80 times for the club, but fans are not holding back after his early error on Saturday.
Here is what Forest fans said about Figueiredo:
“Fig is atrocious #nffc“
“Ohh figs, here we go again”
“Both Bong and Figs asleep there!”
“Figs can’t pick a man up to save his life. Honestly would love to see how many goals he’s cost us so far when he’s played must be one a game? @NFFCPod? It’s a joke”
“Figs absolutely nowhere near his man or the ball from the cross.”
“Yeah figs again no surprise”
