Nottingham Forest are on the verge of signing Huddersfield Town duo Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo, according to reliable journalist John Percy.
The Lowdown: Huddersfield pair linked
Steve Cooper’s side are edging towards their return to Premier League action, with the beginning of the 2022/23 season now less than three weeks away.
It has been a productive summer so far in the transfer window for Forest, and two players who have been strongly linked with moves to the City Ground are O’Brien and Toffolo.
It now looks as though it is simply a matter of time until the Huddersfield duo are unveiled as the Reds’ latest summer signings.
The Latest: Moves nearly completed
Taking to Twitter on Sunday evening, Percy stated that O’Brien and Toffolo have agreed moves to Forest for around £10m, with medicals now imminent.
The reporter tweeted:
“#nffc have today agreed a double deal with #htafc to sign midfielder Lewis O’Brien and left-back Harry Toffolo. Fee for both players around the £10m mark before add-ons etc. O’Brien and Toffolo due for medicals on Monday.”
The Verdict: Great additions by Cooper
These are two exciting pieces of business by Cooper, with O’Brien and Toffolo proving to be influential figures for Huddersfield, helping them to reach the Championship playoff final against Forest back in May.
Are you hoping that Forest sign Tavernier?
The former’s spiky, technically sound presence in midfield can be a great addition for the Reds, having started 46 league games last season and averaged 2.1 tackles and 2.1 dribbles per match, ranking as the Terriers’ second-best player in the campaign according to WhoScored.
Meanwhile, Toffolo is a vibrant attacking left-back who racked up six goals and eight assists last term, so he should bring an extra attacking spark to Cooper’s team.
