Nottingham Forest should make a move to sign free agent Aaron Ramsey in the summer transfer window, says former Rangers manager Alex McLeish.
The Lowdown: Ramsey a free agent
The 31-year-old has officially now left Juventus, with his time in Italy never quite working out overall, spending the second half of last season on loan at Ibrox.
With the World Cup fast approaching and Ramsey set to be a key man for Wales, however, he will be desperate to find a new permanent club as soon as possible.
Forest have been linked with a move for the midfielder in recent days, as Steve Cooper looks to continue what has been a hugely productive summer window.
The Latest: Forest urged to make move
“I do believe that there could be a place for him in one of the Premier League teams. For instance, the teams that have been promoted. Maybe Nottingham Forest would be looking at a situation like that.
“Watching Forest in the playoff final, they need new recruitment. Why not bring in a superstar who is, okay, near the end of his career?
“He had injuries while at Rangers and that might frighten a few people. At the same time, his performances for Wales show you that experience is forever.
“I think there could be a chance of him going to one of those clubs and they will have surely looked into it themselves.”
The Verdict: Yet more midfield experience
Ramsey could be a brilliant signing if a move materialised, not necessarily always starting but proving to be someone who can produce match-winning moments.
Should Forest sign Dennis?
Ramsey has been hailed as ‘world-class’ by Wales manager Robert Page and if he joins Jesse Lingard and potentially William Carvalho as part of Forest’s midfield options, they would be perfectly set going into the new season.
