Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Blackpool winger Josh Bowler in the summer transfer window as the Reds continue to seek new additions.

The Lowdown: Relentless summer at Forest

Steve Cooper's side have made a promising start to life back in the Premier League, picking up four points from their opening three matches of the season.

A relentless summer has seen a host of new faces arrive at the City Ground, with the Reds strengthening all over the pitch and spending huge sums of money in the process.

Their summer escapades don't seem to be done yet, though, with a fresh transfer rumour now emerging.

The Latest: Bowler rumour emerges

According to journalist Alan Nixon on Patreon [via Nottingham Forest News], Forest are keen on signing Bowler. A modest £2.5m bid may hopefully enough to prise him away from Blackpool, who may be willing to take the money as the player is into the final year of his contract at Bloomfield Road.

The 23-year-old has shone for his current club in recent years, scoring seven goals and registering three assists in the Championship last season.

The Verdict: Good squad option

Bowler may not be someone who would come in as a guaranteed starter for Forest, but he is a player with a seemingly bright future who could provide much-needed squad depth.

A lively right winger whose aforementioned end product speaks for itself, the Englishman could thrive alongside players operating at a higher level than Blackpool, and Cooper may believe that he can take him up another level.

Bowler's former QPR boss Ian Holloway has claimed that the 23-year-old is a player that he would 'pay to watch', and his long-term potential makes him a no-brainer for Forest to pursue.

That is especially the case given the mooted price, which would be one of the lowest sums paid out for an incoming transfer by the Reds this summer.
