Nottingham Forest transfer target Maxwel Cornet's future is set to be decided 'this week' amid plenty of interest, according to journalist Fraser Fletcher.

The Lowdown: Cornet wanted by Forest

The 25-year-old caught the eye for Burnley despite their struggles as a team last season, scoring nine times in 21 starts in the Premier League.

With the Clarets relegated to the Championship, Cornet will leave the club this summer and Forest are one of those interested in snapping him up.

Steve Cooper has been adding plenty of attacking reinforcements and clearly sees the Ivorian as a strong option to add to his squad, although the Reds aren't alone in their interest.

The Latest: Decision 'this week'

Writing on Twitter, Fletcher claimed that Forest are 'in talks' with Cornet, as are other clubs, and that his future will be sorted by the end of this week:

"Maxwel Cornet future will be decided this week I'm told, he will leave Burnley. Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Everton and 1 more unnamed club are in talks for the Burnley player, All pushing hard and keen on securing, best offer wins."

The Verdict: Sprinkling of magic

There is clearly going to be a battle for Cornet's services in the coming days but if Forest get their man it could feel like another significant piece of transfer business, having already brought in the likes of Jesse Lingard and Taiwo Awoniyi to provide more goals this season.

The 29-time capped Ivory Coast international showed what a talent he is last term and his pace, trickery and wand of a left foot could give Cooper's attack an extra sprinkling of brilliance, while his versatility is an added bonus - Cornet has played seven different positions in his career.

At 25, Cornet is also at an ideal age to come in and hit the ground running, possessing plenty of experience but also hopefully not hitting his peak years yet.
