Nottingham Forest are on the verge of securing the signing of Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, according to journalist Natalie Jackson.

The Lowdown: Gibbs-White continually linked

The 22-year-old's future has been a talking point throughout the summer, having rejected to chance to sign a new deal at Molineux, eyeing up regular football elsewhere instead.

Gibbs-White has been constantly linked with a move to Forest, as Steve Cooper and Dane Murphy look to carry on what has been one of the best transfer windows in recent memory, securing 12 signings already.

Now, it looks as though the Reds have got their 13th addition, following a key update from BBC East Midlands.

The Latest: Forest close in on move

Taking to Twitter on Thursday evening, BBC's Jackson reported that Gibbs-Whites is close to sealing a move to the City Ground:

"Morgan Gibbs-White is on the verge of signing for @nffc. The in demand @Wolves attacking midfielder has been a #nffc target all summer and the deal is now very close and in the final stages. Forest hoping to get it over the line in the next few days!"

On the Wolves side, The Express and Star's Liam Keen claims Forest are indeed 'pushing' but a deal is not yet close, so fans will have to wait patiently to see whose sources are correct.

The Verdict: Another exciting signing?

This feels like a very exciting piece of business by Forest if they do get it done, with Gibbs-White an extremely gifted youngster capable of creating magic in the final third, as highlighted by 22 goal contributions in the Championship on loan at Sheffield United last season.

Lots of depth is required for the Reds this season, as they look to shine in the Premier League, and the Wolves man is someone who will hope to be a regular starter, instantly creating more competition for places - he's been called 'outstanding' by Barnsley manager Poya Asbaghi.

It seems highly unlikely that Gibbs-White will be signed and ready to face Newcastle United at St James' Park on Saturday but it may not be long until he is an option in and around Cooper's first XI.
