Nottingham Forest are still 'keen' on signing Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White in the summer transfer window, journalist Alan Nixon has claimed.

The Lowdown: Gibbs-White linked with Forest move

The 22-year-old enhanced his reputation during a successful loan spell at Sheffield United last season, as he registered 22 goal contributions in the Championship.

Now back at Wolves during pre-season, Gibbs-White has been linked with a permanent move to Forest throughout the summer, as Steve Cooper makes big additions to his squad.

While the transfer feels far from a certainty, it is clear that the Reds' interest in the midfielder isn't going away.

The Latest: Reds still 'keen'

Writing on Twitter on Monday, Nixon confirmed Forest and Crystal Palace's lingering interest in Gibbs-White:

"Both Forest and Palace keen … but looking at alternatives because it’s not an easy deal to do."

The Verdict: Important business to get done

The deal clearly looks a complex one to get through the door but Forest should do all they can to get Gibbs-Whites this summer, given his huge potential.

The youngster was hailed as an 'outstanding' player by Barnsley manager Poya Asbaghi last season and his end product in the second tier proves that. He also has seven caps and one goal to his name for England's Under-21s, with a senior debut potentially not too far away.

Gibbs-White could give Forest's midfield an extra spark of magic and unpredictability - he ripped Forest to shreds in his one appearance for Wolves in the Carabao Cup last season, scoring a goal, creating four chances and registering more touches than any Reds player.

He could mature into a special player over time.
