Nottingham Forest are focusing on signing Atalanta and Ukraine midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi after agreeing a deal for his teammate Remo Freuler, according to a new transfer rumour.

The Lowdown: Transfers keep on coming

It has been a relentless summer in the transfer market for the Reds, with Steve Cooper making major reinforcements to his squad after their promotion to the Premier League.

There is little sign of Forest's business slowing up between now and the end of the month, however, with Frueler on the verge of joining from Atalanta.

Now, it appears as though they could be looking to bring in one of his teammates, too.

The Latest: Big Malinovskyi offer incoming

According to TuttoMercatoWeb [via Sport Witness], Evangelos Marinakis is ready to make a 'maxi offer' for Malinovskyi, in what is described as an 'assault' on Atalanta this summer.

It is stated that the Italian side are not keen on parting ways with the 29-year-old, though, and while his current deal expires next summer, a big offer may still be needed to prise him away.

The Verdict: Another strong option

Malinovskyi is yet another exciting target for Forest, considering his vast experience for both club and country down the years, so it is important that they strike a deal.

The Ukrainian has seven goals in 49 caps at international level, as well as chipping in with 55 goal contributions (29 goals and 26 assists) in 128 appearances for Atalanta, showing the level of creativity he could bring.

Midfield is arguably the area of the pitch that is slightly lacking in top quality at Forest currently, so Malinovskyi, dubbed 'stunning' by Serie A commentator Matteo Bonetti, could help solve that issue, having averaged 2.2 dribbles and 1.4 key passes per game in Serie A last season.
