Nottingham Forest: Reds expected to increase Willy Boly offer

Nottingham Forest: Reds expected to increase Willy Boly offer -Nottingham Forest News

Nottingham Forest are set to increase their initial £1m offer for Wolves centre-back Willy Boly to £2m, according to a fresh transfer update.

The Lowdown: Forest keen on Boly

The transfer rumours have barely stopped all summer long at the City Ground, with a plethora of signings coming in and even more being mooted between now and the end of the transfer window.

One player who has been linked with a move to Forest is Boly, with the 31-year-old allowed to leave Wolves after falling down the centre-back pecking order.

While the Reds’ first bid has been knocked back, it now looks as though they won’t give up on trying to land the Ivorian.

The Latest: Bid set to be doubled

According to The Daily Mail, Forest are ‘likely to raise their bid’ for Boly to £2m in the hope that Wolves will accept it.

It is claimed that Steve Cooper wants to bring in another centre-back after summer signing Moussa Niakhate was ruled out for a number of months through injury.

question mark

Which one of these kit manunfactuers have never produced Forest shirts?

The Verdict: Injury-prone but worth it?

There is an element of risk in Forest signing Boly, considering that the Ivorian was limited to just 10 starts in the Premier League last season due to fitness issues.

At 31, that could be something which continues to plague the Wolves defender moving forward. However, he has proven to be an excellent player when fit, being hailed as ‘outstanding’ by Joleon Lescott in the past.

Would Pinamonti be a good signing for Forest?

The 6 foot 5 defender offers a strong aerial presence, winning two headers per game last season. That could make up for the enforced absence of Niakhate, who had won 5.5 headers per match so far at Forest before being struck down by injury.

Boly’s experience could come in handy at key stages in the season, having made 89 appearances in the Premier League, and the fact that he would only cost £2m makes it a relatively low-risk move, given the sums spent by the Reds on other players already this summer.
