Nottingham Forest are monitoring developments regarding free agent Andre Ayew, who is also wanted by Everton, according to The Daily Mail’s Tom Collomosse.

The Lowdown: Ayew and Cooper

Steve Cooper knows all about Ayew following their time together at Swansea City. The Ghanaian has actually made more appearances under Cooper (94) than he has any other manager, contributing to 47 goals.

The 33-year-old, once described as a ‘game changer’ by Slaven Bilic, also has another connection to the City Ground in that he shares the same agency as Forest full-back Neco Williams, and it looks as if a reunion with Cooper could be on the cards.

The Latest: Forest claim

Collomosse shared a story for The Daily Mail on Wednesday regarding Ayew, claiming Everton have already registered their interest in the player.

However, the reliable reporter said that Forest are also monitoring developments on the player after he settled his contract with former side Al-Sadd.

The Verdict: One to watch?

Ayew can play anywhere across the front three so would offer plenty of versatility at the City Ground in the second half of the season. He is primarily a left-winger, an area of the pitch where Forest are extremely short, although they have gone with a narrow 4-3-1-2 system in recent weeks.

Cooper got the best out of him in Wales, so a short-term deal could be a wise move, especially with the creative Morgan Gibbs-White suffering a recent injury.

It seems as if this will be one to watch over the coming days, but Forest officials may need to act fast if they wish to pip relegation rivals Everton to a deal.
