Nottingham Forest: Steve Cooper to remain as Reds boss

Nottingham Forest: Steve Cooper to remain as Reds boss -Nottingham Forest News

Nottingham Forest are set to keep Steve Cooper in charge at the City Ground despite there being calls for the sack, according to journalist Jacque Talbot.

The Lowdown: Last chance saloon

The Reds are sitting rock bottom of the Premier League after an underwhelming start to the season, with the 42-year-old coming under increased pressure as a result.

Evangelos Marinakis has begun the process of identifying replacements should he decide to sack him, though Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that the owner was willing to give the Welshman one more game to save his job.

The Latest: Cooper to stay at Forest

Taking to Twitter, Talbot revealed that Forest are set to hand Cooper even more time than first expected, with the board staying level-headed regardless of the current situation they find themselves in.

“Hear Steve Cooper stays. Nottingham Forest focused and remaining calm behind the scenes.”

The Verdict: Correct decision

Forest are undoubtedly in a worrying position after eight games, but the decision to stick with Cooper is the right one, for now at least.

The former Swansea boss has lost just 13 of his 54 matches in charge in the Midlands (winning 29 and drawing 12), and currently averages 1.83 points per game (Transfermarkt).

Having guided his side to promotion, Cooper has all the right attributes to be a success, and if the new players start to gel with the original members of the squad, he should be able to find that winning formula again in no time.
